Ink the Bleeds

Image
Photo by elaf on Pexels.com Ink the Bleeds It is the quiet room I build at midnight when the heavy world is finally fast asleep, a bridge between the shadow and the sunlight, and a vault for all the secrets I must keep. It is a tapestry of dark and ancient magic, where urban realms and phantom worlds collide, a canvas for the sweeping and the tragic, and the truths we are too terrified to hide. It is a shield against the weight of long tomorrows, a way to capture light within the gray, to anchor joy, to give a voice to sorrows, and mold the things I can't simply say. It is the ink that bleeds when hearts are breaking, the steady pulse beneath a restless hand, the quiet art of letting go and making a world that I can finally understand. Destined For Greatness

Image
Photo by ChurchArt Online on Pexels.com Destined For Greatness You are a radiant dawn, the breaking light, The guiding star that shines so ever bright Seize the day, make it count, Failure's not your final moment. You are the hope that fuels our spirits high, With boundless strength to reach for the sky. Success is yours if you believe it true, There is nothing at all you can’t do. You own the courage that conquers darkest fears, The strong inspiration that elevates and dries all the tears. Never surrender your dreams to doubt’s deep shade, Not let fear paralyze the progress you have made. Make no mistake, you are unique and bright. Let your internal essence shine both day and night Flourish and grow until you reach your peak. Blossom and thrive in the honest truths you speak. Reach for the stars while they are in your hand, And soar high above across this waiting land Venture forth and leave an indelible mark, As your talents are unfurled from the silent dark. Your cap...

The Mirror's Truth

Image
The Mirror's Truth I know I am not good enough, I do not need others telling me that. I know my flaws and shortcomings, I see them every day in the mirror. But I am also aware of my strengths, Of the things I am good at. I know that I can achieve great things, If I just believe in myself. So I will not let others' words Defeat me or make me feel worthless. I will not let them define me, Or tell me who I am. I am my own person, With my own unique journey to walk. I will not let anyone else Stand in my way. I will keep moving forward, Even when it is hard. I will keep believing in myself, Even when others don't. Because I know that I am good enough, Even if they don't. The Shadow in the Room

Image
The Shadow in the Room My words mean nothing, they drift like falling leaves, Unheard and unvalued, while my spirit grieves,  speak into the vacuum of your cold indifference, Finding no echo, no bridge, no deliverance. My heart means nothing, it's a pulse, a quiet plea, For a glimmer of worth that you refuse to see, Beating against the cage of your neglectful gaze, Lost in the fog of these hollow, endless days. You do what you want, in your self-centered tide, With little care for me, or the pain I must hide, Sweeping through the hours with a callous disregard, While I am left to mend what you have torn and scarred. Significance fades, I am sealed by fate, An afterthought wrapped in isolation's state, Waiting on the periphery of your vibrant world, Like a banner forgotten, forever left unfurled. Until you need something, a favor to lend, Then I am important, a convenient friend, Suddenly the shadow gains a sudden, sharp light, And I am summoned briefly from t...

To My 4 Readers: You Are My Ultimate Motivation

Image
Photo by Priscilla Du Preez 🇨🇦 on Unsplash To My 4 Readers: You Are My Ultimate Motivation Every now and then, people look at the analytics of a small blog, and I read the report, and it says, “4” next to the blog. But to me? That doesn’t matter at all. The point isn't about massive, viral numbers. The point is that someone out there is genuinely interested in my work. When I look at those numbers, I don't see a small statistic—I see real individuals who chose to take a few minutes out of their busy days to step into my world. Whether you came for the poetry or the stories, you took the time to read it. And from the bottom of my heart, I pray that you truly enjoyed it and that you want to read more. The Reality of the Writing Dream We’ve all heard the complaints in the writing community: "I'm just not making a lot of money doing this." And sure, of course I want to sell books! Writing is an investment. Between hiring professional ed...

RCA Part 3: Traveling Home Amid TSA Shutdown

Image
The severe understaffing, a direct consequence of only a handful of TSA agents reporting for duty, plunged the airport into a state of total disarray. We found ourselves navigating a chaotic environment as we desperately tried to clear security and reach our gate in time for the flight home to Evansville. While our initial itinerary had us departing at 7:00 AM, the rising tide of news regarding the government shutdown and its crippling effect on airport operations prompted a last-minute change in strategy. After reviewing the mounting flight delays, we made the collective decision to head to the airport much earlier, aiming for a 5:00 AM arrival. This required us to summon a Lyft from our hotel at the incredibly early hour of 4:30 AM. Upon our arrival at the terminal, the sheer magnitude of the crowd was staggering. I had harbored an assumption that a major international hub like Atlanta would surely have multiple checkpoints open to manage the flow, but the realit...

Finding My Voice Amidst Rejection in the Writing World

Image
Photo by seymasungr on Pexels.com I am at a crossroads, and for the first time in a decade, I am unsure of the way forward. I have dedicated myself to the craft of storytelling with a persistence that should have borne fruit by now, yet despite my efforts, the "breakthrough" remains elusive. My journey began in the days of CreateSpace, eventually transitioning into Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP). However, that transition led to a devastating setback. In an attempt to protect my professional reputation as an educator from a third-party publisher’s threats, I updated my metadata and pen name. Amazon flagged these changes as a violation of their guidelines and terminated my account on July 6, 2025. Despite a year of formal appeals and my commitment to publish exclusively as Nancy Ann Creed , the decision remains firm. After a decade of building a presence there, I am forced to accept that it may be time to let that platform go. The pursuit of traditional represent...

Why I Deleted My Goodreads Challenge

Image
For a long time, I participated in the Goodreads book challenge, a digital ritual where you commit to a specific number of books to read over the course of a year. Initially, it seemed like a harmless way to track my progress and stay motivated. However, over time, the experience transformed from a rewarding hobby into something that felt more like a demanding second job. Instead of finding solace in the pages of a new story, I started feeling an underlying sense of anxiety every time I looked at my progress bar. The quantitative tracker, meant to encourage, began to exert an unhealthy pressure, making me feel that my value as a reader was tied strictly to my output rather than my engagement with the material. The Numbers Trap   I used to use Goodreads' book challenge where you set a goal for yourself for how many books you will read that year. One year I was planning on writing a middle grade book so I read a lot of popular and award winning middle school write...

A Decade in the Dark: The Reality of the Unseen Author

Image
Today, an overwhelming and profound wave of melancholy has utterly washed over me, an oppressive heaviness in my spirit that I find myself utterly unable to pinpoint to a single event. It's a feeling that wasn't a companion when I first woke—the morning offered a brief, fragile peace—but it has crept in stealthily, intensifying hour by hour, settling into a deep, pervasive gloom. I have been meticulous in adhering to my self-care regimen, ensuring I took my necessary medication precisely on schedule, as a fortress against such emotional sieges. Yet, despite this discipline, my entire emotional landscape feels profoundly unbalanced, listing dangerously under an invisible, unbearable weight. I suspect, with a certainty that settles like a cold, hard stone deep in the pit of my gut, that this debilitating feeling is intimately and agonizingly tied to the agonizing, unyielding reality of my life's work: my books. For ten long, solitary years, I have poured the very essen...
